As a Temple Pre-College student, your experience will include more than just learning through courses and workshops. You will also have the opportunity to try new things and meet new friends through our student life activities, which are included with every pre-college program.
Each day, you will participate in a short homeroom meeting, led by one of Temple's undergraduate students. Your homeroom is a chance to ask questions, start your day on a positive note, and get to know a small group of other students.
College Prep Activities
Throughout your pre-college program, you will be invited to meet with some of the staff at Temple who will help you get your college career started, and will help you explore all of the opportunities available to you. During virtual lunch-and-learns, and after school, you will meet with offices like:
- Undergraduate Admissions, to learn how to get into college
- Student Financial Services, to learn how to pay for college
- Education Abroad, to learn how to spread your wings and explore the world
- Career Center, to learn how to land that dream internship or job
- Many of Temple University's Schools and Colleges, to learn about the more than 150 undergraduate majors available at Temple
Evening and Weekend Virtual Activities
Each week, Temple Pre-College offers a variety of social activities in the evenings and on weekends, after workshops and courses have concluded for the day, so every student can participate regardless of their Pre-College schedule. Virtual field trips, guest speakers, pizza and movie nights, and other events are just some of the extracurriculars that students can look forward to during their time with Pre-College. From making TikToks, to learning about the rich history of Philadelphia, and everything in between, students have many opportunities to collaborate and expand their horizons.
Got an idea for a fun online activity? Let us know, and we will do our best to make it happen.
Pre-College Mentors (PCMs) also provide support for you throughout your Pre-College experience. PCMs are Temple undergraduate students studying in various fields across the university. They are responsible for facilitating activities, helping students get to know each other, and are available as a resource for whatever students may need. You'll get to know multiple PCMs throughout your program when they moderate your homeroom, attend your classes, and host student activities and lunch-and-learns. PCMs are there to make sure you feel comfortable and well-adjusted as you get to know your peers and adjust to college-level work. And because PCMs are current Temple students, they’ll have answers to any questions students might have about life at Temple, or applying to Temple in the future.
Temple Pre-College students have lots of opportunities to socialize and learn outside of a structured curriculum. But don’t just take our word for it; make sure to check out the blog posts and vlogs our Pre-College alumni have made and hear about their summer experiences!
